When asked why we considered the Hotel Princesa Yaiza, deserving of the title of the ‘best hotel in Lanzarote,’ we took into account several factors. The location, reviews and feedback from our customers, service levels and of course low complaint ratios were all important to us. The winning hotel also had to provide the widest possible range of facilities and features and finally the number of repeat bookings was the most critical factor that helped to help make that final and difficult decision.
As location was a part of the decision making of our eventual winner, the 5 Star Princesa Yaiza hotel was already off to a flyer! Set imperiously above the glorious Playa Dorada beach at Playa Blanca in the south of Lanzarote, the hotel grounds descend down to the seafront promenade; this promenade stretches the length of the resort and provides easy walking to the new Marina Rubicon in one direction and the old town centre in the other.
An unusual plus point for a hotel of this category is that as well as its attraction to couples, the Princesa Yaiza is equally appealing to families, with a range of first class facilities which appeal to both young and old.
The decor and airy quality of the public rooms, with inlaid wooden floors, simply ooze elegance and luxury. Guest bedrooms are equally impressive, the vast majority of which are suites, fully equipped with a bathroom, bathrobe and slippers, balcony or terrace, hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV and radio channel, air conditioning, fridge, mini-bar, Internet connection and a safe. The hotel also provides 24-hour room service to all its guestrooms.
If you like to relax and do nothing, the hotel’s pools and sun terraces are just the place to lay and enjoy your holiday in Lanzarote. The hotel also provides plenty of facilities for those that like to be more active, with a choice of fitness classes in the 400 square metre gymnasium, also home to a sauna. Children are particularly well looked after, with several mini-clubs catering from 0 to 16 years. These are housed in the adjacent Kikoland, along with tennis courts, multi -sport courts and swimming pools to keep the most active youngsters occupied.
The quality of the cuisine is always very subjective, but with a choice of eight restaurants, five of which are a la carte, the Princesa Yaiza scores highly again. Themed restaurants including local Canarian food and Italian have been highly praised, but the Kampai Japanese restaurant is a real favourite with guests, turning an evening meal into an entertaining event- not to mention the wonderful food! A poolside restaurant ‘El Chiringito’ provides an ideal location for that lunchtime treat of a snack and cool drink in the hot sun.
When the day is over, the hotel has a lobby bar which provides stunning views from its terrace and has piano music in the evenings. The show bar ‘Mencey’ is home to the hotels entertainment, with professional shows and entertainment provided for guests. The adult only Jazz bar is the place for a cocktail or two and the Disco bar is the place for late night revellers. All in all, a wonderful Lanzarote holiday hotel, with something for everyone!
