Luxury in Benidorm??

When you think of Benidorm it’s hard not to envisage images of mass tourism with poor resort planning dating back to the boom years of the 60’s and 70’s, when high-rise apartments and hotels almost seemed to appear overnight. Nowadays, although still burdened with those perceptions the resort is slowly beginning to re-invent itself, over the last few years new hotels and refurbishments have given the resort some quality alternatives to the bargain basement apartments and tired 2 & 3 star hotels.  There are now thirty 4 star hotels in the resort including the Melia Benidorm that opened in 2002 and two 5 stars,  the Villa Venecia Boutique Hotel opened in September 2009 and our hotel of the week the Barcelo Asia Gardens set just a couple of kilometres from the resort’s beach.

This wonderful hotel is Asian-styled
with Thai spa, beautiful gardens, lakes and cascades, designer rooms and indulgent luxury hotel facilities. Built from sustainable, eco-friendly materials, it is surrounded by Oriental gardens featuring 60 varieties of plants and bonsais. With Bali-inspired thatched roofs, infinity pools including 2 heated, and a year-round mild climate, you can not only get your Zen fix with a Thai massage but also savour exotic food in one of the 3 à la carte restaurants. In addition, there are 3 nearby golf courses and a 3,500m2 Convention Centre comprising 13 meeting rooms. Practical, elegant and adaptable, the function rooms contain state-of-the-art technology and an abundance of natural light; many rooms can be used in conjunction to suit your requirements. Conventions, incentive or business meetings, wedding receptions and banquets can all be organised and incorporate any number of activities such as catamaran rides, flamenco workshops, go-karting and balloon riding. For those in need of some luxurious pampering, the extensive and specialised Thai spa provides an array of wellness packages. Take a leisurely swim in the indoor pool, relax in the Turkish bath or outdoor Jacuzzi or lie back on the solarium terrace. The spa specialises in traditional Thai massages performed by its expert team of Thai therapists. For a truly memorable experience, reserve your therapy in one of the open-air stilt houses with tatamis. 2 and 3-hour Thai Spa Packages offer sheer indulgence. Furthermore, yoga and qi gong are available and bike excursions and golf tuition to participate in, while extensive jogging circuits wind through the grounds.
