P&O Cruises latest addition the MV Adonia has cruised in the port of Southampton ahead of it’s celebrity naming celebrations tomorrow (Saturday 21st May).
The ship was formerly operating for P&O Cruises’ sister company Princess Cruises as Royal Princess, however following a refurbishment in the Bahamas the 710-passenger vessel will be renamed Adonia by Ms Shirly Bassey in front of a select guest list of around 500 dignitaries.
Bucking the trend of recent years the ship will not be a mega vessel and will in fact be the smallest of the P&O fleet. The small size is seen as an advantage as the vessel will be able to visit smaller ports off the ‘beaten track’ that are inaccessable to its larger sister ships. Adonia will offer fly cruises to the Mediterranean this autumn and along with Arcadia she has been designated as an adults-only vessel. Around three quaters of the cabins have balconies.
